Our first groundnuts harvest at the Rose Valley Collective.

We had sown them in a small area at the start of the monsoon rains. Absolute joy to smell the fresh raw pods. Some will be sun dried. We will try making a few dishes out of them at the farm kitchen.

The ecosystem at the Tamarind Valley Collective has undergone a huge change from when we started working there a few years ago. A change for the positive.

Water.

A simple five letter word. But profound and immense in all its meaning and what it encompasses. The very source of the origin of life on our planet and what keeps it going.

And, the continuous rains at our farming collectives near #Bangalore are welcomed by all the beings, living and seemingly non-living, — wild grass, flowers, trees, soil, insects, birds, reptiles, and of course us.

The 2-acre lake we have created at the Rose Valley Collective is slowly filling up. There is a long way to go before it becomes an important constituent of our ecosystem. But today is a cause for celebration and joy.

Small steps. Huge changes.

The pandemic lockdowns came at the most inopportune stage for us. Pretty much all work stopped.
