Some glimpses from the past few weeks at the Rose Valley Collective.

Bountiful May rains (also thanks to the cyclone effect) have helped fill out our wells and lakes. We have received 170+mm of rainfall since March this year. Our dependence on groundwater has reduced to a large extent. But heavy unseasonal rains also bring their own problems of erosion and run-off. Diversion channels and other short term measures will hold good for now.

Planning and preliminary works for the next phase of planting, earthworks are in progress. Auditing of current zones, uUnderstanding needs, short-listing plant species, talking and meeting experts from academia, government nurseries and horticultural departments have kept some of our farm staff busy.

There is great buzz too as the members have been finalizing their house designs with the folks at Biome. On ground marking, soil tests, excavation for foundations are going on. We have also finalized the designs for the community centre along with the guest facilities. Exciting times ahead as we head into a busy monsoon period. Here are some pictures and videos.
